my first AE video

I have way too much imagination... and too bad you can't really see anything...

new term new start

hello everybody!
sorry for not writing, but well I was on break and I'm sure you aren't interested in my boring activities in and around LA. Plus I'm already enough of a internet junkie, so taking a break from my screen for 5 hours less a day is relaxing.

My new term has started, yes, I'm in 3rd term now and with it come new classes:

Motion Design 1 - I will be uploading my first AE video for that after this post; this class is basically learning the basics of AE

Communication Design 3 - this time we have a term long project. We are playing TV executives and art directors for this project – the project is to create 7 online TV shows for hulu.com (an online free TV show stream site), 3 of the 7 are going to be worked out fully, meaning we need to get imaging, create logos, make sequential print (a book on the project), billboards, a storyboard and a website for each show. I already have my ideas set and need to research a bit more and will tell you more about them next week

Basics of ActionScript3 - well it says it all... it's all technical programming. We will be creating a widget for mac as a final. This is a 7 week workshop by the way and involves a ton of math (I AM DOOMED), but I sort of understand it... I can animate without using tweens now :)

Type 3 - a lot of work for this class... a) An 8 page brochure on a great American writer b) Book Design (the project is called Shell of a Book) c) Conference 2008 - simple typographic identity, save the date postcard, advertising in a magazine, mailed conference program brochure with registration card, schedule, program set up and security badge. yes, everything in 14 weeks...

Materials of Art and Design - basically a class which is more artsy, we learn how to operate the model shop machinery, like the bandsaw, sandblaster, spraybooth; we learn about materials and will even be casting bronze and might be welding metal and using the plasma cutter

Intro to Modernism - by far the most boring class ever. Well at least it is for me, since this is the 4th art history class I have taken in my life. YAWN
but interesting fun fact, someone in my class actually thought the arts and crafts movement was something his mother does at home, since she does a lot of arts and crafts things... hahaha

otherwise, I did fantastic last term. all A's and got onto the Dean's List which officially makes me one of the top students in school. but enough bla bla. you people don't really read this anyway!
but i would appreciate any suggestions or interests you might have!

AND SHOUT OUT TO TOBI!!!! thanks for your comment, I meant to say that earlier... It made my day :)

Blurry but still good

Smoke is what the clouds are made of

Crazy...

You can't tell from this pic

So a little update: break has been alright so far, got lucky in Vegas
and well haven't been working much but gathering inspiration. And the
brushfire here is growing like crazy. The size of the fire is bigger
than the city of boston. I believe even over 120 000 acres have burned
so far. You can see the flames from my balcony and obviously the air
quality is so bad that school has shut down til Thursday maybe even
longer if they don't stop the fires soon. On the plus side the sunsets
are amazing because of the smoke. Yellow orange moons. But well it
doesn't help much since you can't enjoy the sunsets or rises. My car
filter already smells like a bacon smoker and the heat and smoke had
given me non stop headaches for the last 4 days now. Will upload more
pix later!
